Giraffes live in scattered enclaves throughout sub-Saharan Africa. They are the tallest animals alive today, stretching to nearly 20 feet, and their amazing tongues allow them to reach nearly two more feet and eat their favorite foods.

First, the Giraffe’s heart has to work hard to pump blood all the way up its neck to reach the brain, but when a Giraffe stoops down to drink, all that blood should just rush to its head. Instead, the Giraffe has valves that close when it lowers its head, keeping the blood flow minimal.
